Scraps, scrawlings, and scribbles.

I’ve always been a writer, dabbled in everything under the sun— novels, poems, kids’ books, stageplays, musicals. Just because they piqued my interest, and for a moment in time, held it. The only constants during those phases were letters and cards. And trust me, they remain (give me a reason to write you, please, I beg)! In senior year of high school, I thought I found my next phase: screenplays. I knew nothing about them. Just that I hadn’t written them, and they could be cool. About twenty deep, I realized I had a problem: passion. Two years into three-years-later, I realized I wanted to be a director too. And now, I’m writing things I actually want to make. Don’t get me wrong— that batch of screenplays were great practice! They were a chance to actually figure out what the hell I was doing, what I wanted to talk about, and how I was gonna talk about it. They will never see the light of day, but they helped me get through technicalities to voice and style— and they helped me learn that an idea that needed to get out of my head was different than an idea that needed to get out of my heart. I’m on the heart stuff now.

So here’s some of my words :)

P.S. You can check out the short story behind my short film, Laps, here! The script too!
